2027: What this year’s listed dates show

The first listed date is 2027-01-01 and the last is 2027-12-27. 4 listed dates fall on Saturday or Sunday. This comparison includes only the entries currently stored for each year; differences can reflect coverage as well as the position of holidays. When months tie, the earliest tied month is shown. Check observed dates, make-up workdays and the receiving organization’s own schedule before turning these figures into deadlines.
Reading Hong Kong’s holiday calendar for practical plans
General holidays and statutory holidays are different lists
Hong Kong publishes a general holiday calendar and separate information about statutory holidays under employment rules. These should not be treated as interchangeable labels. Use the general calendar for the dates covered by this page, then consult the Labour Department when the question concerns an employee’s statutory holiday entitlement. A count of entries in a general travel calendar cannot establish the terms that apply to a particular employment arrangement.
For a business planner, the immediate question is usually more concrete: will the person, counter or warehouse needed for a transaction be available? Check the institution’s own operating notice. A bank branch, a retail business and an employer may answer that question differently. Record the answer next to the transaction rather than adding an unsupported “everything closed” label to the date. Clear scope makes the calendar useful without overstating what it can prove.
Pay attention to substituted Lunar New Year dates
Lunar New Year arrangements should be read from the published calendar for the selected year. If one of the relevant festival days falls on Sunday, a substituted general holiday can appear later in the sequence. Do not reuse a previous year’s observed dates or assume the pattern is identical to another jurisdiction that celebrates the same festival. The official Hong Kong announcement identifies the arrangement applicable to that year.
When coordinating a team in Hong Kong and mainland China, keep both calendars visible. Shared festival names do not establish matching breaks or working Saturdays. Ask each contact for their actual office availability and agree the last handover that both sides can complete. That overlap, rather than the longest holiday interval in either calendar, determines whether an approval can be finished before people become unavailable.
Make cross-border deliveries explicit
A delivery between Hong Kong and another jurisdiction passes through several organizations with separate working arrangements. Ask the logistics provider about collection, documentation and destination receipt for your shipment. Do not infer a guaranteed arrival from a public holiday list. A shipment can leave its origin while the receiving warehouse is closed, or wait for an approval from an office whose calendar differs from the carrier’s operating schedule.
For a hypothetical sample delivery, list the sender, collection contact, paperwork owner and receiving contact. Confirm the address and any booking reference before dispatch. Ask what the carrier will do if the receiver is unavailable and whether storage or redelivery changes the price. Keep these answers with the shipment record. This is more actionable than adding an arbitrary number of extra days to every delivery without knowing where a delay could occur.
Plan branch visits and payments separately
A branch visit and an online payment instruction are different activities. For a visit, confirm that the particular branch offers the required service on the chosen date and whether an appointment is needed. For a payment, consult the provider’s applicable processing information, currency and cutoff. A functioning website does not establish when a transfer will be reviewed or reach its recipient. Give the recipient the provider’s actual status rather than an inferred holiday calculation.
If a payment needs internal approval, identify a deputy before the approver goes away. Separate the deadline for approval from the deadline for submitting the transfer. A team can miss a provider’s cutoff even on a normal working day if it treats these as a single task. Where timing is critical, ask the provider and recipient what evidence is required to consider the obligation fulfilled instead of relying solely on an automatically generated confirmation.
Check attractions and transport at the operator level
For a leisure visit, public dates help identify when a detailed operating check is worthwhile. They do not guarantee an attraction’s opening hours, a restaurant’s availability or a particular transport connection. Prioritize reservations that are essential to your itinerary and read their change conditions. If a ticket is time-specific, account for the travel needed to reach the entrance and any stated last-admission rule.
A useful alternative plan is geographically realistic. Choose something you can reach from the original activity without a chain of uncertain transfers. For companions with mobility needs, check the relevant entrance, lift access and rest facilities directly. Do not assume a holiday timetable creates the same experience in every district. This page does not forecast queue lengths, hotel prices or the availability of individual services; use current operator information for those decisions.
Review weather notices separately from annual holidays
An annual holiday list does not represent emergency closures or real-time service suspensions. Before an important journey or appointment, check the relevant official weather and service notices as well as the provider’s own update. If an office changes its arrangements, record that as an operational change rather than editing the historical holiday date. Keeping the categories distinct helps explain what changed and which part of the plan needs revision.
Before finalizing a schedule, confirm the year, the type of holiday list and each critical organization’s availability. Use a separate imported calendar for public dates so that later updates do not interfere with personal meetings. Keep notes about which source and version you used. When a date moves or a partner changes its closure notice, update the shared plan and tell the people who depend on the affected handover, not just the owner of the calendar file.
